I am married to Philippa (Pip) and have two grown children, and more recently two young grandchildren.

We have been in the Fylde since 1985. I have worked in schools throughout my career until I retired in 2016.

We all love the Fylde, it is a great place to live with so much going on, and a wonderful place in which to raise a family.

I put myself forward for the Town Council to continue the good work they do, to help our town and the people in our town.

As well as being on the Fylde Council, I also serve on the Lowther Trust, to ensure we can retain a theatre in our borough.

I want to see good schools, a local health service that meets people’s needs, and services that are there when people need them.

I am happy to be contacted any time to try to assist anyone with problems.

Born and subsequently educated in Blackpool, I moved to St. Annes over forty years ago. My association with Ashton Ward is threefold. I spent over ten years as a Churchwarden of the Parish Church of St. Margaret of Antioch and have been, for some years, the Chairman of the Supporters of Ashton Gardens. I was also, for a while, the Chairman of the  Ashton & St. Leonards Wards PACT.

When the St. Annes on the Sea Town Council was created as a civil parish in 2005, I represented Ashton ward and was the Vice-chairman of the original council.

Although having spent fourteen years employed in the world of finance I am, by trade, a joiner having had my own business in the town.

It is my sincere wish to help maintain St. Annes contrast with Blackpool, whilst encouraging the local commercial community and making St. Annes the destination of choice for the discerning visitor.

Originally from South Yorkshire, I have lived in St Anne’s-on-the-Sea since 1990, and in Ashton Ward for the last 22 years.

I worked for the Department of the Environment and the Treasury in London before moving to the beautiful Fylde Coast and joining ITSA, the computer agency of DWP; later being “privatised” before taking early retirement in 2014. I am keenly interested in local history and passionately support initiatives to make our great town even better. I follow Fylde Rugby Club as well as being a former President of the Lytham St Anne’s Philatelic Society.

I take an active interest in Ashton Ward which I also represent on Fylde Borough Council. I believe that tourism and leisure are absolutely vital to the wellbeing of a town like ours and am keen to promote the great facilities we have to offer as well as to explore new opportunities and possibilities for both local residents and visitors to the town.

I am very happy to have been elected to represent the people of Ashton Ward on the Town Council and I look forward to working with fellow councillors and representatives of other interested bodies to maintain and improve the wellbeing of the town.

Moving from the South of England eight years ago, I happily settled, together with four generations of my family in the Heart of St Anne’s on the Sea. I quickly became involved with helping people in the neighbourhood, and supporting local groups & events.
My work, at many different levels in Electronic Engineering has enabled me to develop a wide range of interpersonal skills which have made me a team player, a good listener and a problem solver. I am friendly and sympathetic to other people’s needs.
For many years, I was involved in the training & support of Engineering apprentices, and started out as an apprentice myself. Professionally, I am a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, and the Engineering Council.
For the last 5 years, I have been a Volunteer ‘Street Rep’, In and around Central Ward, helping clear litter, reporting things like damaged pavements, potholes, defective street lights, as well as suggesting improvements, and highlighting litter hot spots. I have also helped in beach clear ups, and supported local campaigns.
I care passionately for St Anne’s on the Sea, with its historic buildings and tree-lined streets and aim to work to preserve its legacy and ensure good representation of its residents’.
In my spare time, when not with the family, or involved in some DIY project, I have interests in Historic Buildings, Classic Cars & Bikes, Amateur Radio, and Early Electronics.

I have really enjoyed serving the residents of St. Leonard’s Ward on the Town Council over the last eight years. I find it satisfying to help people in the town and to contribute to events and activities which help to make St Anne’s such a pleasant place to live, work and relax in.

I have lived in St. Anne’s for most of my life, and at my current address since 1986.

I have spent over 30 years in the Civil Service, firstly at the Bonds and Stock Office and latterly at the Lytham District Land Registry where I was a Plans Officer. I am able to bring this experience to bear on the council’s Planning Committee, where I have served as Vice Chairman and Chairman.

I am currently employed as a Personal Search Agent, visiting Town Halls all over Lancashire, collecting information on Land Charges, Conservation Areas and Planning Consent matters.

I have supported the many charities of the Mayor of St. Anne’s, and enjoyed my year as the town’s Deputy Mayor during the period 2017 – 2018.

Having worked for a number of years as part of the team that successfully developed the town’s Neighbourhood Plan, I am pleased to see that it is having a noticeable impact on shaping future development, whilst continuing to preserve and protect our important heritage.

I am a keen volunteer for St. Anne’s in Bloom and am very proud of us winning GOLD in the Best Large Coastal Resort. I am a member of the Friends of St. Anne’s Station Group (also Gold medal winners), where we work hard to improve the appearance of both the stations as entrances to our Garden Town by the Sea. I am a Supporter of Ashton Gardens, and a member of Fylde Civic Awareness Group.

Since gaining the approval of The Lord Chancellor and Lord Chief Justice in 2010, I now serve as a Magistrate on the Lancashire Bench.

In addition to representing Fairhaven Ward on St. Anne’s on Sea Town Council I am also a Fylde Borough Councillor and sit on the Tourism and Leisure Committee.

Through these responsibilities – I recognise the important role that leisure and community plays in today’s society and that the role of accessible, high quality leisure provision can enhance the quality of life, health, and well-being of the local community.

Consequently, through my Chairmanship of St. Anne’s on the Sea’s Policy & Resources Committee; I can further leisure and community through the process to enable opportunities, developments, and structures to be put in place to inspire, support, and encourage all individuals to take part.

The way we organise our free time can reveal a great deal about our identities and ideology. St. Anne’s Town Council tries to explore what our leisure and community choices can tell us about the society in which we live.

We also want to see community leisure and development playing a more central role in supporting the involvement of communities, including young people, in the community planning process. In this regard my role strengthens the link between community leisure and development and community planning at all levels”.

I also do have outside interests which apart from of course my family and walking my dog; I am also Chair of Governors at Weeton School.

Councillor Viv Willder

FBC  Board Member of  Progress Housing Group

I have lived in St Anne’s on The Sea all of my life. My family of James, three children (Sonia, Rosemarie and David) and four grandchildren (Emma, Jack, Kurtis and Jordan) all live locally. I went to two local schools, St Thomas’s and Elmslie. Taught by a local Teacher (Muriel Bury) my childhood and adult years were taken up as a dancer in all the local Operatic/Pantomime Societies in the many beautiful, local venues, some sadly not around anymore.

Later working for over 28 years at the Premium Bonds site on Moorland Road and latterly at the National Savings Office at Marton, I retired 11 years ago and still teach all forms of Aerobics at a local, family run hotel.

Some years ago I became involved with the development of 111 new homes at Heyhouses for New Fylde Housing. I am a Board Member of NFH and work very closely with the Management to ensure that all residents are part of a close Community. I am Chair of the Police and Community Together (PACT) and Co-ordinator of the Neighbourhood Watch where I live.

I am thrilled and honoured to be elected as a new Borough and Town Councillor taking over from Keith Hyde on his retirement and will endeavour to keep St Anne’s on The Sea and Heyhouses Ward as great as it is and will be for the future of many generations to come.

I became a councillor,representing Heyhouses Ward,in the May 2011 elections.

Originally from Bolton,I have lived in the Fylde for nearly 40 years, the last 30 in St. Annes.I have worked in a commercial business role at BAE Systems,Warton for 42 years negotiating large defence contracts, mainly with our Govenment and the RAF.I believe this business background will be a benefit to my council role.

I am chairman of the Policy & Resources Committee of the Town Council.

As I am taking early retirement in July 2011,this has given me the opportunity to get involved in helping to shape the future of St. Annes, where I particularly want to protect our wonderful architectural heritage, whilst at the same time improving our parks and our beautiful seafront.I am also keen to promote knowledge of our local history, both for ourselves and to help with tourism. We must not forget though that our key role is to protect day to day services at the same time, whilst making them as efficient as possible for ourselves.

Finally, I want to help if I can with events for the town,to make St. Annes a more fun and entertaining place for us all!

I am originally from Middleton, Manchester. The family moved to St. Anne’s when I was 19 and I have lived in lovely St. Anne’s ever since. The first 9 years of my working life were spent in the tourist industry helping to run the family hotel. I then went into teaching where I taught all ages and abilities including people with special needs.

I have been involved with St. Anne’s Carnival for over 30 years, the last 10 as its chairman raising money for local good causes.

I am also involved with the Guiding Movement, completing over 30 years of service in Lytham St. Anne’s with all age units, presently as a Brownie and Rainbow Guider. I also served for 13 years as a District Commissioner. I joined the Town Council at its last elections in 2007 and was also elected to Fylde Borough Council serving St. Leonard’s Ward.

Councillor Karen Harrison

Karen Harrison

My name is Karen Harrison. I was born & brought up in Derby, but I have now lived in St. Anne’s for 25 years. I’m proud to consider this beautiful  town my home.

I left school at 16 and worked as an office junior, continuing in Administration through my working life with the Civil Service and Facilities Management.

Before taking early retirement 2 years ago, I spent 10 years at Lytham St. Anne’s Technology and Performing Arts College as Attendance Officer.

I have recently trained and qualified as a Family Celebrant, becoming a member of the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants,  writing and delivering Weddings, Funerals, Civil Partnerships etc.

In my free time  I am  a committee member at St Anne’s Women’s  Institute, and an enthusiastic member of 2 choirs . I am also an official volunteer with Macmillan and help out with fundraising and information events.

I’m passionate about inclusivity and community & want to make St. Anne’s a place where everyone counts, to make it a thriving area for shopping and leisure for local people and visitors alike.

I have an interest in tourism and leisure and believe promoting this is vital to the wellbeing of St. Anne’s. As well as being a wonderful seaside resort we have some beautiful green spaces in our lovely town, In Central  Ward we have Beauclerk Gardens which is a lovely area which could be utilised much more than at present.

I am concerned about the number of empty shops (e.g. those on the Crescent) and would be interested in working towards attracting new business to the town. A particular interest is the St. Alban’s Road shopping area. This area has some lovely local shops, and restaurants and I would like to work towards promoting this area to locals and visitors to the town.

I am keenly interested in wellbeing issues affecting both elderly people and children/young people. I am a good listener and a team player.
