– New Mayor and Deputy Elected for St. Anne’s on the Sea Town Council 2023/24

At the Annual Meeting of the Town Council on 16th May 2023 Cllr Shirley Green was appointed by her fellow councillors as the Mayor of St. Anne’s for the next 12 months. Joining Shirley as Deputy Mayor will be Cllr Karen Harrison.

Cllr Green has lived in St. Anne’s on the Sea since 1987 and has served on St. Anne’s on the Sea Town Council since 2019.  In her time on the Council, she has been a member of the Policy and Resources Committee, the Town and Environment Network working group (TEN), as a council representative on the St. Anne’s Enterprise Partnership (STEP) board, and on the Town Council’s District Parish Liaison Committee.

Cllr Green will be raising funds during her Mayoral year for her chosen St. Anne’s charity, which is St. Anne’s Football Club.

Shirley has been involved with our team of councillors in moving the Town Council forward in several areas especially with colleagues on the TEN working group which has installed benches on Public Rights of Way paths for residents, Jubilee Benches on Ashton Gardens, and Tulip benches on Hope Street Park. The Council also has improved the sites at our two Council allotments, planted numerous trees around the town, installed a Coronation Plinth and Dedication in Ashton Gardens and within the next few weeks will be placing new St. Anne’s History Picnic Tables at Blackpool Road North playing fields, Frobisher Drive and Waddington Park. In accepting the Chains of Office at the meeting Cllr Green paid tribute to the Outgoing Chairman Cllr Harrison who takes up the Deputy Mayor position and thanked her for all her work for the Council and the town over the past 12 months, noting that a sum of over £2000 was raised for her Charity of choice Home Start.
