270615 Consultation in DomesSt. Anne’s on the Sea Town Council has now submitted a Neighbourhood Plan to Fylde Borough Council. The Plan will be available for public consultation for a six week period, from 11th February until 24th March 2016. During this time, the consultation material will be available on deposit at Fylde Direct, Public Offices and available online at: www.fylde.gov.uk/neighbourhoodplanning/

After this consultation, an examiner will be appointed to review and validate the Plan.

Town Clerk Sally Taylor said “This has been the biggest project that the Town Council has ever undertaken, but is so important to the people of St. Anne’s. We are now coming near to the Plan going to referendum, this is when the people of the town vote on the Plan. Once in place the Plan will allow our community to influence the planning of St. Anne’s.”

Following consultation in 2015, consultee comments included;

“Put the needs of the local people first. Maintain / improve all communal areas. Affordable housing a priority.”

“Absolutely no green spaces to be lost. Ensure future compliance with traditional architectural standards, and return previous poor examples to original designs.”

“It is positive that the NDP is seeking to identify the future development proposals for St Anne’s on the Sea.”

“Please make sure you plant some trees.”

“It should protect and enhance the distinctive design of the town.”

Councillor Tony Ford, Chairman of the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group stated “All of these comments and hundreds more were fed into the Plan and assisted in developing the policies. The Plan cannot stop development, but it can determine where houses are built. The Plan is ambitious and includes a town design guide, working to ensure a high quality of design that is sympathetic to the character of St. Anne’s. The clear message we received from the public is that they want to protect the town’s parks and open spaces which is one of the main aims of the Plan. People asked for more affordable homes of a type and design that meet the needs of the town, again this is addressed in our Plan. We are passionate about St. Anne’s and want the Plan to ensure the town can build on its legacy and become a balanced, healthy and vibrant community for future generations.”
